February 11, 2021 An annual fundraising event for cancer treatment services in Louisiana, the Mary Bird Perkins Gala is held annually during September and put on by the Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center in conjunction with local and independent nonprofit, Cancer Services.
During last year’s The Gala Goes Global event, over $950,000 was raised — funds that were directly given to help patients and families affected by cancer in the Greater Baton Rouge community. Mary Bird Perkins is a state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer treatment center serving the Greater Baton Rouge area. It’s also the largest cancer care organization in the state, serving more patients each year than any other center in the region. Mary Bird Perkins and its partners have a culture of innovation that attracts some of the brightest cancer minds in the country, including expert physicians and highly specialized researchers to provide world-class care.
Cancer Services has served the Baton Rouge community since 1959. The agency’s mission has evolved over the years to encompass the financial, physical, and emotional needs of cancer patients and their families at no cost. A local, independent nonprofit, Cancer Services operates in the parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.
