Gary Paul, a Partner at Waters Kraus & Paul, Receives the Distinguished Service Award for his Contributions to AAJ’s Efforts to Preserve Access to the Courts

The American Association for Justice (“AAJ”) is a national plaintiffs’ lawyer association that strives to promote a fair and effective justice system. The AAJ was formed over 70 years ago, and is the world’s largest trial bar.

Gary Paul, a name partner of Waters Kraus & Paul working out of the Los Angeles office, has just been presented with the Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes members of the AAJ’s Board of Governors who have been of special assistance to the president of the Association. The award was presented to Mr. Paul at the Board of Governors meeting this morning, July 26, 2017, by AAJ President Julie Kane. This is the third time he has received the award for distinguished service since he joined the Board in 2001.

Mr. Paul has been extremely active within the AAJ playing a prominent role in leadership. He has served terms as vice president and president of the nationally recognized organization, in addition to multiple terms on the AAJ Executive Committee. And for the last three years, Mr. Paul has served as chair of the AAJ National Finance Council. Mr. Paul has also received numerous other awards from the AAJ, including the Leonard Ring Champion of Justice Award in July 2016, and the Harry M. Philo Award in 2014.

About Gary Paul

Gary Paul is a partner at Waters Kraus & Paul in the firm’s West Coast practice. Mr. Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Arizona State University, and a master’s degree in engineering from UCLA.  He began his career as a rocket scientist, working for ten years as a space and missile engineer. Shifting his focus to law, Mr. Paul earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angles, and passed the State Bar of California. He is also a co-author of California Tort Practice Guide, and a frequent speaker at legal symposia and legal education seminars.

In addition to his numerous roles and achievements within the AAJ, Mr. Paul has also served as president of the Consumer Attorneys of California (”CAOC”) and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angles (“CAALA”). He has been elected to the CAALA Hall of Fame, and his law school presented him with the Loyola Law School Champion of Justice Award.

Mr. Paul has also been named to the Thomson Reuters Southern California Super Lawyers ® list for over 10 consecutive years.
