Charles S. Siegel

Charles Siegel is the head of the appellate practice at Waters & Kraus, LLP. He was born in Houston and earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees at the University of Texas. Charles has argued appeals in eight federal appellate courts, in the supreme courts of Texas and five other states, and in numerous intermediate appellate courts in various states. He has also obtained a grant of certiorari and vacatur of a lower court result from the U.S. Supreme Court. Charles is also an experienced commercial and toxic tort litigator. He served as lead counsel in Dow Chemical Co. v. Castro Alfaro, the landmark case in which the Texas Supreme Court held that Texas did not recognize the doctrine of forum non conveniens in personal injury cases. He has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center, and as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas Law School, Southern Methodist University Law School, and the University of the West Indies College of Law, and is a frequent speaker at legal seminars around the country and abroad. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, Public Justice, the American Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. He has been recognized on the Texas Super Lawyers® list, published by Thomson Reuters, Legal, every year since its inception in 2003, and was a finalist for Public Justice’s Trial Lawyer of the Year award.
